The verses include selections of Ronsard's sonnets, translations of Greek epigrams, excerpts of odes and other works including among many examples:

Mais tirez moy le coeur de vostre doux haleine...' (Second Livre des amours, Sonnet XLIV, Oeuvres Complets ed. Céard, Simonin and Ménager, 1993, v.I, 214).
'L'image de Thomas me dite quelque chose
Et Thomas au parquet se tais a bouche close
L'image est advocat a voir nos parlan trait
Et Thomas nest sinon pourtrait de son pourtrait' (Traduction de quelques autres epigrammes grecs, v.I, 546).
'Toute royauté qui desdaigne
D'avoir la vertu pour compaigne...' (Odes, Livre I, v.I,193).
The manuscript also includes the religious epic 'La Premiere Semaine' by Du Bartas (Guillaume de Saluste, 1544-1590, Gascon diplomatist and poet) and other unidentified works; the text in Latin with which it ends is an extract from Marsilio Ficino, 'De studiosorum sanitate tuenda', Bk 1. A reference to an event in 1593 suggests that the manuscript was written soon afterwards, and the works by Ronsard probably copied from one of the recent editions of his works. The edition of 1584 was the last published in his lifetime. After his death several were published between 1587- 1609.
