Volumes I-XIV only bound in 7, 8° (250 x 155mm). One uncoloured plate, 503 hand-coloured engraved plates, one folding. (Occasional light browning or spotting, offsetting of text onto plate nos. 313-324.) Contemporary blue morocco-backed boards, flat gilt spines, uncut (scuffed, spines chipped).

FIRST EDITION. A significant selection of 726 hand-coloured plates from probably the most famous of all botanical periodicals, a publication which continues today. The selection bound in the two additional volumes includes the complete text and plates for volumes XIX and XXII. The lot sold as a periodical not subject to return. Cf. Satfleu & Cowan 1290; cf.
