24° (109 x 58mm). Engraved title. Ruled in red. Late 17th-century English black goatskin, covers with all over gilt tooling of ferns and leafy stems surrounding a central scrollwork design, gilt spine with lettering-pieces, gilt turn-ins, marbled endpapers, gilt edges (corners slightly bumped). Provenance: Thomas Rawlinson (1681-1725, collation mark on front endpaper, beneath bookplate; his library sold 4 December 1721-4 March 1734) -- 'NS' (bookplate by Kirk with cypher and bookpile design after Samuel Pepys) -- Daniel Woodward (signature). This gem of a binding reflects Rawlinson's exceptional taste as a book collector. See De Ricci p. 45.
