VILLANI, Matteo (d. 1363). Della historia ... li tre ultimi libri. Florence: Giunti, 1577. 4° (221 x 150mm). Woodcut device on title and colophon. (Some spotting, quires H-I stained and wormed at upper margin.) Early 18th-century calf, covers gilt-stamped with the arms of Jean-Jacques Barillon de Morangis (1678-1741), spine with his repeated cypher [Olivier 309], red edges (spine chipped at head). The first eight parts of the history and part of the ninth book were first published by the heirs of B. Giunti in 1562. Adams V-795; BL/STC Italy p. 726.

(Some soiling.) 19th-century [?] Italian calf imitation of a contemporary French strapwork binding (spine and corners worn). Provenance: J.B. Evigilante (signature on title) -- Bottega (early signature at front and rear with his notes) -- Hans Furstenberg (20th-century booklabel). First published Venice, 1525.
