Bound with an incomplete copy of Geoffrey of Monmouth's Britanniae utriusque regum et principum Origo (Paris, Ascensius, 1517). 18th-century blind-panelled calf (rebacked). Provenance: early annotations (a little shaved) -- Netherby Hall Library (library stamp). FIRST EDITION of this celebrated history of Britain by the Scots historian, John Major or Mair, who taught successively at Glasgow, St. Andrews and Paris. Adams M-228 & G-445.
