Contemporary tree calf by James Scott of Edinburgh, with his ticket at lower margin of title, covers with gilt twist-roll border, flat spine with red morocco lettering-piece and three other divisions tooled with a cluster of instruments, basket of flowers and urn, marbled endpapers (spine chipped at head, a few light scuff marks on lower cover). Provenance: 'C.M. got a present of this book from Mr. Farquharson/1781' (title inscription) -- Lady Amelia Sophia Drummond (oval engraved bookplate). Described and reproduced in J.H.
