The distinctive rococo ornament at the top of the legs of this cooler relates to that on various items of The Hague silver of the mid-18th century. It appears on the celebrated 'service hollandais' now in the collection of the Grand Duke of Luxembourg, which was executed in The Hague between 1756 and 1759 for Prince Carl-Christian of Nassau-Weilburg (R. Baarsen et. al., Rococo in Nederland, Zwolle/Amsterdam, 2001, no. 122, pp. 224-227).
