Venetian, late 18th or early 19th century
Each supporting a seashell on his shoulders; each on an integrally carved naturalistic base and panelled octagonal wood pedestal.
Minor wear to gilding and polychromy.

Lot Essay

The two figures in the present lot are virtually identical to a larger pair of blackamoors sold anonymously in Phillips, London, 6 February 1996, lot 120.
