A LOUIS XV ORMOLU-MOUNTED SEVRES PORCELAIN POT-POURRI POMPADOUR
The porcelain vase dated 1760, the lid and ormolu foot first half 19th century
The vase-shaped pierced body decorated with sprays of summer flowers and surmounted a similarly pierced lid with a leaf-wrapped berried finial and a waisted pierced neck, flanked by paired foliate-cast handles, on a waisted circular spreading foot and a laurel-wreath and square plinth, the vase with indistinct interlaced blue L's enclosing the date letter 'H'

A closely related Pot-Pourri Pompadour in the collections of the Louvre (inv. OA.10304) is illustrated in M. Brunet & T. Préaud, Sèvres, Des origines à nos jours, Fribourg, 1978, p. 137, no. 42. Vases of this type were sold from the collection of the late C.J. Dickins, Christie's London, 4 May 1908, lots 194-195.
