Maker's mark of Pavel Ovchinnikov, Moscow, circa 1916
Raised on a rectangular section of rouge agate, the hinged cover embossed with the figure of a Russian bogatyr holding a spear and a shield emblazoned with the Imperial eagle, against an enamelled panel depicting a fortress in the background, with a presentation inscription 'To our comrade and colleague Ivan Alexandrovich Losev in memory of 1914-1916' and various signatures
