Lot Essay

Albert and Frank East, sons of Francis East, set up their own manufactory in about 1894 at South Road, Lochee, Dundee; Francis East had settled in Dundee in 1860 having been a chair maker in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire and he imported to Loan Scotland the manufacture of inexpensive Windsor chairs, producing distinctly Scottish designs as well as specialised seating such as advertising chairs (see lot??) and barbers' chairs.
