Lot Essay

This is a fine example of a table that would have been used for food preparation. The non-aromatic quality of sycamore was perfect for this task as it left food untainted and the reversible top was scrubbed rather than polished. The double stretchers were intended as a shelf for kitchen equipment, not as a foot-rest.
