Of unusual size, with hinged lid and front with moulded line detail and gouged edging, the sides extending to feet

In the early 20th century Burnley House was lived in by Mr and Mrs Burnley who were local benefactors and wealthy mill owners; by repute this chest was used to store expensive bolts of silk.
