Provenance
The Old Manor House, Waterside, Knaresborough, Yorkshire.
The Old Manor House has been home to the Roundell family for five centuries right up until the 1950's.
Cromwell visited the house on several occasions and by repute slept in this bed. Certainly he was in Knaresborough on September 1st 1648 when he was on his way to Edinburgh after the defeat of the Scots at Preston.
At the end of the Civil War, the Treaty of Capitulation was signed in the drawing room of the Old Manor House.
Included with the bed are a number of early documents relating to The Old Manor House.
