Représenté debout en samabhanga, trois des quatre bras cassés, le quatrième levé et tenant le cakra, le torse nu, vêtu du sampot fixé à la taille par une ceinture, un pli retombant entre ses jambes, le visage souriant, les yeux en amande, le nez aquilin, la bouche charnue, les lobes d'oreilles allongés, les cheveux bouclés, coiffé d'une mitre ; socle

Lot Essay

Almost all found stone sculptures in the Phnom Da style seem to belong to the realm of Vishnu and his incarnations, like this example and the preceeding lot. The Phnom Da style seems also rather homogenous compared to other stylistic phases. As the presented Vishnu is already more stiff in expression, it is plausible to date this image towards the end of the Phnom Da style, into the seventh century.
