Lot Essay

Henry Greaves (1844-1904) was the subject of a number of portraits by his brother, Walter. The brothers, who were pupils of Whistler and who specialised in recording the life and buildings of Chelsea, were inspired by Whistler's subject matter and even copied his style of dress.
