In the manner of Gillows, Last quarter 18th Century
Each with shield-shaped back above downswept arms and serpentine- fronted seat covered in pale-pink material, the cresting carved with ribbon-tied husks above a solid oval splat painted with a floral rosette, on stiff-leaf and flower-headed turned tapering and fluted legs, one arm with restored break, redecorated (2)

The chairs relate to a design by Gillows of London and Lancaster, circa 1785-1790, illustrated in L. Boynton (ed.), Gillow Furniture Designs 1760-1800, Royston, 1995, fig. 266.
