DOMAINE ROULOT
This estate is increasingly being recognised as one of Meursault's greatest. The present owner-winemaker, Jean-Marc Roulot, initially trained as a French classical actor, but now brings his striking intellect and creative gifts to bear in the family vineyards, vat-house and cellars (while still sometimes treading the boards or in front of a camera). He has consigned some superb rarities from the family reserves, particularly large-formats. His Perrières and Charmes bottlings are classics, Bouchères 1996 being the 1st vintage of a newly-acquired vineyard (drunk last year, it was elegant, perfumed and approaching maturity). The Meursault Clos de Mon Plaisir is a Monopole vineyard (solely owned by Roulot) within Meursault-Tessons, which here approaches 1st growth quality.(AH).
