written over two sheets by John ('Jack') Butterworth to May Hinton, address and dated R.M.S. TIATANIC [sic]. Lot Essay

Miss Hinton received this letter in the same post as notification that Butterworth had not survived. The body of John Butterworth, a saloon steward, was recovered by the Makay Bennett and buried at sea on 24th April.
