A FINELY-DETAILED 1:100 SCALE BUILDER'S-STYLE MODEL OF THE DOVER HARBOUR BOARD PADDLE TUG LADY VITA (1882)
modelled by C. Hooper with mast, rigging, anchors, capstan, forward towing gear, superstucture with platform with wood-capped deck rails, wheelhouse with tinted windows, paddle boxes with gantrys and steps, saloon lights, twin stayed funnels each inscribed 'DH', aft towing gear, dinghy in davits with bottom boards, thwarts and oars and other details. The carved hull with feathering paddle wheels, fenders and rudder is mounted on two turned brass columns on display board with legend within wood-bound glazed case. Measurements overall -- 12 x 19¾in. (30.5 x 50cm.)

Built by Westwood Ballie & Co., Lady Vita served for thirty-two years around the Goodwin Sands and the English Channel. Bought by the Tees Towing Co., she was finally broken up in 1954 after seventy-two years service.
