Lot Essay

The brigantine Prairie Flower was built by Le Vescoute at St. Helier, Jersey, in 1864. Owned by F. Le Sueur, also of St. Helier, she was registered at 138 tons and measured 95½ feet in length with a 20 foot beam. Commanded for most - if not all - of her career by Captain Dorey, she traded regularly to Wales in addition to the inter-island traffic around her home waters.
