Lot Essay

The wooden yawl Lufra was built by Michael Ratsey at Cowes in 1865. Registered at 222 tons Thames (116 gross and 82 net), she measured 108 feet in length with a 22 foot beam and had numerous owners during her long life. In the 1890s, she was owned by Sir Cecil and Lady Miles of Leigh Court, Bristol, and by 1900 she had passed into the ownership of Mr. G.H. Marvin who had renamed her Crisia.
