A grisaille and and enamelled armorial plate, circa 1740
enamelled at the centre with the arms depicting the back of a naked figure within a mantling surmounted by a helmet, all within a cell-pattern and du Paquier-style borders -- 9in. (23cm.) diam.
Provenance
The Nanking Porcelain Company.

The arms have not been identified. Another plate is illustred by Hervouet and Bruneau, La Porcelaine des Compagnies des Indes a Decor Occidental, Paris, 1986, p. 338, fig.14.45.
