A sampler, the linen ground worked in coloured silks with the central monogram H I K, the upper section with alphabets and numerals, the lower section with various spot motifs, including a lobster with semi-detached antennae, buildings, double-headed eagles, Adam and Eve and a crucifixion scene--17½in. (44.5cm.) square, probably German, first half 19th century
