A fine band sampler by Elizabeth Hurst, dated 1655, worked in coloured silks and metal thread on a mustard linen ground with stylised floral repeating patterns, a row of 'boxers' in striped breeches and a row of ladies and gentlemen in Elizabethan costume with raised work details--25 x 7½in. (64 x 19cm.)
