Document signed ('James R') to William Livingstone of Kilsyth, Stirling, 'ye [...] day of December and his regne ye xvii yere' [1529] , 18 lines written in a secretary hand, signed and countersigned at foot, one page, 200 x 265 mm, endorsed on verso, (small tear in blank margin, 2 punctures, one touching the 'R' of 'Rex' at the head, a few tiny splits in folds, traces of mount on verso).
'Oure soveraine Lord ordaind ane letter to be made under his p[ri]vie sele', a licence for William Livingstone of Kilsyth, his sons and other members of his family and household and servants on the lands granted to him, 'to depart furth of his realm in pilgrymage unto quhat cuntreth he pleasis and there to remaine at his pleasure'.
