A long letter, referring to his correspondent's letters of the 11th and 16th of the past month, concerning the investigation and punishment of Diego Perez de Vargas for his abuse and outrage, and refusing to permit a cover-up. Ferdinand also discusses the treatment of hostages (apparently Arabs), and the necessity of baptising them. Nothing however is to prevent a prompt conclusion and re-establishment of the peace.

Don Miguel de Gurrea had been appointed Lieutenant General in Mallorca in 1512.
