Each rectangular bombé form on four foliate scroll feet, the scrolling borders with masks and foliage, the sides elaborately chased with Chinoiserie scenes of figures in landscapes, the hinged covers with figure finials, each engraved with a coat-of-arms, each marked on base and cover, in a later velvet-lined fitted case with silver mounts
