A SWISS ENAMELLED GOLD SNUFF-BOX SET WITH A SILHOUETTE
Geneva, circa 1780/1790, maker 'LFT', marked, with prestige marks
Oval box, the wavy engine-turned panels on cover, sides and base coated with translucent scarlet enamel and bordered with opaque light blue enamel bands, the lid inset with an oval églomisé silhouette of a young lady called Countess Stackelberg née Dücker, wearing a high cap, within a bright-cut and chased gold mount, the borders chased in two-colour gold with trailing foliage interspersed with opaque blue enamel ovolos, the four side pilasters similarly decorated, the pushpiece set with an opal cabochon; fitted green shagreen case
