A Derby plate and other items of English porcelain
Various dates, 19th Century, various marks
The plate painted in the manner of Thomas Steele with a still life of fruit in a basket, within an octagonal gilt cartouche issuing anthemion below a meandering band of gilt flowers, the gilt border chased with fruit and vines, reserved with panels of anthemion (light rubbing); a pair of English porcelain oviform ewers painted with flowersprays (one crack to handle); a leaf-moulded basket painted with flowers, the leaves enriched in blue and gilt, and a Derby (Sampson Hancock) blue-ground lozenge-shaped dish, painted with the Old Silk Mill at Derby, signed to the reverse (scratches and wear)
