The hinged top crossbanded in tulipwood and inlaid with lines enclosing a sliding fitted interior with adjustable mirror flanked by lidded compartments bearing a central drawer within dummy drawers, on square tapered legs joined by a gallery, the undertier with brass cappings and castors

Lot Essay

Lots 264-269 are from the Estate of the 17th Earl of Perth.

Lord Perth (1907-2002) was a statesman, banker, collector and bibliophile. He was chairman of The Reviewing Committee for the Export of Works of Art and a member of the Advisory Council of the Victorian and Albert Museum. An important selection from his library, which is well known for its Natural History and Jacobite History, is being sold at Christie's in London on 20th November 2003.
