Each with cartouche-shaped back, padded arms, seat and squab cushion covered in floral patterned cut-velvet material, the frame carved with scrolling foliage and rockwork, the arched cresting and shaped seat rail centred by a floral cartouche, on cabriole legs headed by trailing foliage and terminating in foliate-carved toupie feet, each stamped 'JME' and 'J.B.BOULARD', previously decorated, one with restorations to the rails (2)

Lot Essay

Jean-Baptiste Boulard, maître in 1755.

Jean-Baptiste Boulard, famous and well-known menuisier, produced both Louis XV and Louis XVI seat furniture. As from 1777, he was employed by the Garde Meuble de la Couronne, and delivered seat furniture to Compiègne, Fontainbleau, Versailles and St. Cloud.
