These chenets are based on the celebrated pair supplied by the bronzier Quentin-Claude Pitoin to Madame du Barry for her Salon at Fontainebleau, later placed by Louis XVI in his library at Versailles.

Modelled as a boar and a stag, each on a naturalistic base and a further base of entwined oak leaves and ivy, with a central plaque, flanked by hound heads, one stamped 120, the other stamped P26
