Paris, circa 1850, maker's mark JC with heart and star
The rectangular rosewood case inlaid with brass fittings, the cover with initials EL within a brass foliate cartouche, the green leather and velvet interior fitted with five glass bottles with silver mounts, the first removable tray fitted with six glass boxes with silver mounts, the second tray fitted with assorted sewing, writing and toiletry items, including six implements with tortoise shell handles, the third tray fitted with four wood brushes, a tortoise shell comb and shoehorn, an ivory brush, a match box, an inkwell, all marked on silver mounts, except three bottles, the case with retailer signature Alph.
