Circa 1773-5, traces of blue Z mark
With a farm-girl wearing a white head-scarf, a puce and pale-yellow bodice over a loose white blouse, a white apron and white skirt edged with coloured flowers, feeding the chickens and chicks at her feet from a basket of grain, on a circular grassy mound base (a porcelain replacement hen to be restuck, areas of sanding to girl's chest and legs)

Lot Essay

This group is after a Meissen original and a similar Zürich example, in the author's collection, is illustrated by S. Ducret alongside a Meissen group of circa 1760 and a Höchst group of circa 1765 in Die Zürcher Porzellanmanufaktur (Zürich, 1958), Vol. II, p. 196, fig. 336. Another example, formerly in the Alfred Schwarzenbach Collection, was sold by Sotheby's Zürich on 7th May 1974, lot 81.
