This watch is very unusual in that it was made for retailer S. Nordlinger & Sons., in Los Angeles, at a time before the city was the metropolis that it is today. 1909 also marks the year that the first major motion picture studio opened in Hollywood - which is to say that the clientele for Nordlinger was most likely not the movie stars that one might expect.
