A 11-BORE PERCUSSION SPORTING GUN AND A 15-BORE PERCUSSION SPORTING GUN
The first circa 1840, the second by T. Brooks, early 19th Century
The first with twist sighted barrel octagonal then polygonal at the breech, patent breech with two platinum lines, flat lock engraved with scrollwork, a spaniel and a snipe (hammer-spur missing), figured walnut half-stock with chequered grip, scroll engraved iron mounts, and brass-mounted ramrod with worm (iron parts with surface rust), Birmingham proof marks; the second rebuilt from flintlock, with rebrowned twist sighted barrel (one ramrod-pipe detached), patent breech (nipple defective), signed bevelled lock with stepped tail, walnut half-stock with chequered grip (minor bruising), iron mounts, brass escutcheon, and brass-tipped ramrod (iron parts with surface rust), Birmingham proof marks
