Lot Essay

Andre de Dienes was one of the earliest contributors to Playboy, and is celebrated for his pictorials of many of the 50s and 60s most famous sex symbols, including the Swedish bombshell and star of La Dolce Vita, Anita Ekberg. He is best known for his 1945 photographs of the young model Norma Jeane Baker who he helped to make a household name - Marilyn Monroe.
