A PHOENICIAN GOLD AND STEATITE SCARAB FINGER RING
Circa 8th-7th Century B.C.
With an Egyptian scarab in a dog-tooth setting, the outer edges of the bezel framed with plain wire ropes, the plain, tapering hoop, round in section, the ends inserted into the perforation of the bezel and scarab, secured by a plain wire threaded through the ensemble and coiled around the shoulders of the hoop, the underside of the scarab inscribed with a cartouche consisting of part of a motto mentioning the god Amun
