A CENTRAL EUROPEAN BRONZE FIBULA
Hungary, Middle to Late Bronze Age, Circa 1300-1200 B.C.
The body formed from two lengths of wire, one with a long pin wound into eight coils at one end, and hammered flat where it extends back along the length of the pin and joins by means of three straps to the second section, here hammered flat, and extending further along the length of the pin where it twists to form the catch-plate and then continues into an elaborate spiral of square-sectioned wire, with scoring along the edge on several spirals, with additional double spirals of smaller square-sectioned wire joined to either side of the flattened section by the three straps
