A CHALCIDIAN BRONZE HELMET
Archaic Period, Circa Late 6th Century B.C.
Of hammered sheet, with a small nose-guard, broadly curving cheek-pieces, sharply carinated perimeter and everted flange along the neck-guard, with a molded spiral motif on each cheek-piece, ridges around the eyes, high arching brows above, the perimeter peaked at the center, with elaborate egg-and-dart molding below the ridge, a palmette at the center and along each temple
