A ROMAN BRONZE AND IRON FITTING
Circa 2nd-3rd Century A.D.
Perhaps from furniture or a chariot, cast in the form of a majestic eagle standing on a rectangular plinth, the molding, feathering and details all enhanced by incision, with a bearded bust of Jupiter emerging from the eagle's back, a kantharos with voluted handles in relief below, a second kantharos on the left side, another object on the right, the split base coupled with a thin rectangular iron strut
