Two Meissen cabinet plates painted with maidens
Circa 1880, blue crossed-swords marks and titles to reverse
The first painted with Ruth in a cornfield and holding sheaths of corn, she wears a simple brown dress and a head-scarf standing before a pink sunset, the second plate painted with Sissette holding a candle shielding the light with her hand, she wears a cap and a simple white frilled dress, reserved on a dark ground, (restored), both within trailing ivy and tooled gilt borders pierced with ovals and moulded with hearts and gilt seeded-ornament
