These watches were issued to the Royal Marines Special Boat Squadron, as indicated by the encircled T on the dial and the Royal Navy Ordnance number on the back. The suffix 72 indicates the date of manufacture. We understand from the manufacturer that some Submariner wristwatches ordered by the Royal Navy for the SBS were assembled to the Navy specification in their Bexley premises if required urgently. For these watches it would appear there are no records available but we are assured by Rolex, UK, that this is one such watch. The bar lugs have been drilled out but again we are assured that Rolex UK can rectify this.
