DOLLS -- CREMER, William Henry. Dolly's Album Arranged for Little Ladies by W. H. Cremer Junr. European Toy Warehouse, 210 Regent Street, [London: c.1880 or earlier]. Small 4° (50 x 45mm). Title and captions printed in blue, 12 albumen prints (?only, of 14) in window mounts each within blue double rule border. Contemporary roan decorated in blind, metal clasp, gilt edges (lightly rubbed, clasp detached). Bondy Miniature Books p.72: "In about 1880 the London toy firm of W. H. Cremer, Junr. issued a small publicity volume for children ... This miniature curiosity ..." The small albumen prints - Bondy calls for a total of 14 - depict a doll engaged in various activities in a variety of settings with toys and miniature furniture, captioned variously, "Dolly at Dinner," "Dolly at a Fancy Ball," "Dolly's Exhibition Bedstead," "Dolly's Wash Stand," "Dolly's Toy Shop," and "Dolly's Baby can just say Papa & Mama!!" (possibly a reference to a prototype talking doll). SCARCE.
