In an advertisement at the front of some of the volumes Goodrich states his reasons for wishing to be published in England: "... it is my wish to be judged in England by what I do write, and not by what has been written for me. I have been much vexed, since my arrival in this country, to see the name of PETER PARLEY attached to a number of books, published in London, which I never saw or heard of ..." The titles in the present series are as follows: "Persevere and Prosper," "Cheerful Cherry," "Wit Bought," "What to Do and How to Do It," "Inquisitive Jack and his Aunt Mary," "Travels and Adventures of Thomas Trotter," "The Life, Travels, and Adventures of Dick Boldhero," "Tales About America and Australia" and "Tales About Asia and Africa."
