A Venetian red tortoiseshell and ormolu mounted striking table clock, early 18th century and later
With silk-backed repoussé basket top and glazed side panels, fruiting mounts to the front, raised on four claw feet (one detached, some mounts detached), the inside rear with parquetry inlays, the dial with winged cherub mask spandrels to a silvered chapter ring with raised Roman and Arabic chapters, matted centre also engraved with foliate scrolls and signed Matthies Gugli Venice, later hands, the associated later French eight day twin barrel movement with silk suspension and countwheel strike on bell -- 16¼in. (41.5cm.) high
