The hood with brass-capped swan neck pediment and outset reeded pillars, short arched trunk door flanked by reeded half columns, on plinth with quatreform panel, the 13in. wide painted dial with flowers to the spandrels and arch, Arabic chapter ring, the centre with further flowers, arched date aperture and signed Tho.s Mawkes/Derby, brass hands, pinned directly to the four pillar movement with anchor escapement and outside countwheel strike on bell -- 85in. (216cm.) high
