An English brass lantern clock, mid 17th century
The narrow (7/8in. wide) Roman chapter ring with star half hour markers, engraved to the corners of the dial plate with winged masks and to the centre with rose heads in quadrants, single iron hand, with engraved front fret and plain side frets, later side doors, iron plate to rear with hoop and spikes, the two train thirty-hour movement now with balance wheel conversion and with outside countwheel strike -- 16in. (40.5cm.) high
