A Victorian mahogany and burr walnut inlaid longcase clock, mid 19th century
The hood with triangular pediment, chevron bordered trunk with rectangular door, on plinth with wavy apron, the 13in. wide white painted dial with figural spandrels emblematic of the elements and the arch with scene of a courting couple, with subsidiary seconds and date rings to the centre, engraved brass hands, pinned directly to the eight day four pillar movement with anchor escapement and rack strike on gong; built up cheekboards, possibly associated -- 83½in. (231cm.) high
